Journal Entry   Back Meeting with Mohave County on Virgin River area Development Southwest Region, September 29, 2005 Print Friendly Version Brenda Smith and Lesley Fitzpatrick of Arizona Ecological Services Office, Bob Williams and Amy Lavoie of Nevada Ecological Services, and Andi Rogers of Arizona Game and Fish Department met with Mohave County Supervisor Pete Byers and Planning and Zoning Director Chris Ballard on September 21, 2005. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the county to habitat conservation planning, discuss development occurring in this rapidly growing area, and inform them about other HCPs that have been or are being developed in adjacent states. The county is concerned about their ability to manage growth in this mainly unincorporated area, as well as the cost of initiating an HCP. City of Mesquite, Nevada is currently working on an HCP and may be receptive to assisting Mohave County by sharing information. The county agreed to consider the information and possibly meet with City of Mesquite officials and discuss options.
