Journal Entry   Back USFWS Holds Public Hearings for Proposed Downlisting of Gila Trout Southwest Region, June 29, 2005 Print Friendly Version On June 28 and 29, 2005, staff from the New Mexico and Arizona Ecological Services Field Offices and the Regional Office conducted public hearings for the proposed downlisting (from endangered to threatened) of Gila trout. The meetings were held in Phoenix, Arizona and Silver City, New Mexico. A brief description of the proposed action and powerpoint presentation on life history characteristics of Gila trout were given, and public comments were heard. Written public comments were accepted until July 15, 2005 on the proposed rule.
