Local students discover Sandhills nature through the nature-of-learning program
Southeast Region, April 20, 2005
Print Friendly Version
Carolina Sandhills NWR played host to 52 environmental science students from Dutch Fork High School in Columbia, SC, April 20-21. For 2 action-packed days, the students used the refuge as an outdoor classroom with refuge staff and researchers serving as the instructors. Their experience was made possible by a grant from The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation's Nature of Learning Program. Their instructor, Dr. Langdon Warner, worked closely with refuge staff to put together the successful grant application. The student's had a great time playing 'stump the refuge manager? with their insightful and thought-provoking questions.
