Phase one held on November 18, 2004 at Fennessey Ranch in Bayside, Texas offered the following environmental education activities: Bird Adaptations for Migration, Monarch Butterfly Biology and Migration, Bird Watching and Identification, Monarch Butterfly Tagging and Insect Identification, General Wildlife Tour and various other environmental education hands-on learning experiences.

Phase two of the program was held on May 5, 2005. The event was scheduled as a celebration of International Migratory Bird Day 2005. Environmental Education was the focus with 22 presenters covering many topics about or related to migration. Students learned about the following: Whooping Cranes, Sea Turtles, Hawks, Migration Headaches, Fiddler Crabs, Habitat Restoration, Habitat Preservation, Migrating Waterfowl, Bats, Migrating Shorebirds, Historical Migrations of the Mammoth, Reptile and Amphibians, Refuge Tour ? Habitat Interaction, Insect Migration, The Threat of Power Lines and Tall Structures for Migratory Birds. Migration Stewards: Beyond Borders was a great success for all participants. A total of 768 students,104 teachers/parents, 28 volunteers, and 68 partners attended the two events.
