Friends of Pondicherry clean up Silvio O. Conte Refuge unit

On Earth Day, Friends of the Pondicherry Division of Silvio O. Conte National Wildlife Refuge picked up road-side trash along Airport and Hazen Road from Route 115 to the unit's trailhead entrance and a section of Route 116 next to the refuge boundary. The sweep netted 32 bags of trash, three televisions, a microwave oven, five tires, two car batteries and a vehicle battery.

The trash consisted primarily of beverage containers. On Route 116 it was mostly coffee cups and McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, and similar fast food wrappings. On Airport Road it was mostly Budweiser and Budweiser Light bottles. We only had two Rolling Rock, two Heineken, and six Miller bottles and maybe 200 Budweiser bottles.

No micro brew bottles were found.
