KENAI: Refuge Joins Bowhunter Education Effort
Alaska Region, May 1, 2005
Print Friendly Version
Kenai National Wildlife Refuge took a new step in expanding their outdoor education activity efforts on May 1 by training two employees as Bowhunter Education Instructors. After completing training, the staff helped teach the classroom and field portion of the Alaska Bowhunter Education Course to a cadre of students ages 15 to 70. The course is accepted worldwide. Bowhunters must be certified by both a written and shooting proficiency test to hunt. The Refuge already has five staff certified as basic Hunter Education Instructors. The new credentials will help reach hundreds of Refuge visitors who need the bowhunter class to participate in the early moose season offered on Kenai Refuge each August.
