University Classes Visit BANWR
Southwest Region, March 1, 2005
Print Friendly Version
Antioch New England Graduate School visited Buenos Aires NWR for four days of camping and learning this month. Hailing from New Hampshire, this class of 25 received an in-depth view of the refuge, its conservation programs, public use, and management issues and problems. Lectures were presented by the refuge manager, biologists, fire manager, and outdoor recreation planner. Prescott College from northern Arizona brought an Environmental Studies class for a 3-day visit that included in-depth field study of the refuge's three habitat divisions and a slide lecture on arid land adaptations by the refuge Outdoor Recreation Planner. Visitation by these two groups demonstrates the value of national wildlife refuges as outdoor classrooms.
