Vermont Eagle Restoration Meeting Shows Wide Support
Northeast Region, April 8, 2004
Print Friendly Version
On April 8, partners in the Vermont Eagle Restoration Project held a public information meeting at the Addison Central School in Addison, Vt., near the Dead Creek State Wildlife Management Area where eagle hack towers are currently being constructed.

Speakers included representatives of Senator Jefford's office, the National Wildlife Federation, Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Outreach for Earth Stewardship. Over 80 attended the meeting and, based on questions and offers to volunteer, the local public is very supportive of the project. The New England Field Office's Michael Amaral attended and participated in the question-and-answer period.

The informational meeting was held to bring the public up to date on the eagle restoration initiative, to answer questions and to sign up volunteers to assist in staffing the hack station. The project purpose is to address a gap in the breeding range of the bald eagle, which now nests in every state south of Canada except Vermont.
