Autographa californica [Noctuidae]
Two pairs of midabdominal prolegs, a trait indicative of the Plusiinae. Green; distinct white spiracular line and faint discontinuous longitudinal dorsal white lines. This species is common and develops through many generations in one year. This caterpillar feeds on many species of herbaceous plants, in particular, legumes such as alfalfa and clover, and is present from early spring through late fall.
