Rating

What This Rating Means

PERFORMING
Effective

This is the highest rating a program can achieve. Programs rated Effective set ambitious goals, achieve results, are well-managed and improve efficiency.
  • The program is using external panel assessments to review the quality, relevance, and performance of its research portfolio and grant management practices. They have also begun assessing progress toward the long term goals of the program.
  • In 2006, NAS issued its review of the Genomics: GTL Program which recommended new research facilities underpinning particular applications - bioenergy, carbon sequestration, or environmental remediation. BER is implementing these recommendations.
  • The program is sequentially reviewing the operations and scientific performance of its experimental facilities.

Improvement Plan

About Improvement Plans

We are taking the following actions to improve the performance of the program:

  • Reviewing operations of user facilities, and improving discrimination in identifying open user facilities versus collaborative research facilities.
