National Computer Center
The National Computer Center (NCC) is a 100,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility. It houses about 200 employees, computer training facilities, high performance scientific computers and large-scale computing systems. This building achieved a LEED silver (PDF, 1pp., (about PDF) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council - signifying its outstanding environmental performance. The building was designed to exceed the North Carolina Energy Code by 27%. The design and construction of the NCC embodied many sustainable features (PDF, 3pp., (about PDF). Part of the Office of Environmental Information, the NCC program is EPA's largest central computing service. Their programs provide nationwide scientific and administrative computing services to EPA, as well as the public and international customers. |
