Status Report
May 1999 Dear Friend of Lake Erie: We are pleased to announce that the Lake Erie Lakewide Management Plan (LaMP) Status Report (1.7 Mb pdf) is now available. The Status Report has been produced in partnership with the federal governments of Canada and the United States, the Province of Ontario, and the States of Michigan, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania. The Status Report reviews the progress the LaMP has made towards identifying problems, objectives and solutions. The LaMP provides a framework for agencies, organizations and individuals to coordinate activities that they are already working on, and to propose new activities to improve the environmental quality of Lake Erie. The first edition of our Lake Erie Update (1.2 Mb pdf) is attached. This edition provides background on Lake Erie, explains what the LaMP is, and highlights the components of the Status Report. We look forward to publishing future editions of the Lake Erie Update to keep you informed about the LaMP process. Other documents pertinent to the Lake Erie LaMP include several Beneficial Use Impairment Assessment (BUIA) reports that are currently available. Each BUIA report is a technical analysis of a particular aspect of the Lake Erie ecosystem. If you would like to obtain a copy of the Status Report and/or the BUIA reports, please complete the form on the reverse of this letter and fax or mail it in. Also, if you would like to have your name added to or removed from the Lake Erie LaMP mailing list, or to indicate your interest in joining the Binational Public Forum, please let us know by sending the attached response form back with the appropriate box checked or send an e-mail to one of our contact people.
