The ACE Basin Refuge

Presently at 11,815 acres, the refuge may encompass 18,000 acres upon completion of additional purchases and consists of two separate units. The Combahee Unit is located near Yemassee, SC, and the Edisto Unit is on the old Grove Plantation near Adams Run, SC.

Grove Plantation House

Refuge Headquarters:

The Grove Plantation House, built in 1828, is one of only three antebellum mansions in the ACE Basin area to survive the Civil War. Former owners ensured it would be preserved by placing it on the National Register of Historical Places.
