Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park is looking for individuals that would like to share their knowledge of Seattle with both visitors and students. Volunteers work alongside our frontline visitor center staff providing in-depth information about Klondike Gold Rush history, Seattle history, and local information. Still interested in volunteering for the National Park Service, but not keen about talking in public? A variety of positions are available to those who might enjoy historical research, computer and web activities, or preparation of various displays and publications.
Individuals who love to hike and backpack throughout the Northwest can volunteer to share their knowledge with others at the Outdoor Recreation Information Center. The center is based inside REI's flagship store in downtown Seattle.
Ever thought of stepping onboard a cruise ship to provide visitors with area and historical information? During the summer months volunteers staff and park rangers board Holland America cruise ships, during their layover in Seattle, to present a brief historical presentation on Seattle, the Klondike Gold Rush, and other Alaskan national parks.
For those more adventurous, we are looking for individuals who enjoy providing a rolling commentary about the historical and geographical highpoints onboard both Amtrak's Empire Builder and Coast Starlight routes. Trails & Rails guides are needed for daily trips starting Memorial Day mid-September.
