ANNUAL WISCONSIN OSHA - WASA ALLIANCE REPORT

I. Alliance Background
This alliance was signed on June 22, 2004.
Alliance Overview
Historically, the predominant number of fatalities and serious injuries occur within the
agricultural community in the State of Wisconsin. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(OSHA) and the Wisconsin Agri-Service Association (WASA) formed an Alliance to provide WASA members
and others with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect
employees’ health and safety, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to hazards related to
machine guarding, falls, confined spaces and lockout/tagout in the agribusiness community in
Wisconsin.
Implementation Team Members
Kimberly Stille, Madison Area Director; Leslie Ptak, Madison Compliance Assistance Specialist; John
Petty, WASA, Executive Director; Bob Willder, WASA Safety Director.
II. Implementation Team Meetings
No activities were held outside the annual safety conference.
III. Activities and Products
This report covers the period from October 18, 2006 through August 30, 2007.
Alliance Activity.
- Training and Education -
- OSHA spoke at and had an exhibit booth at the WASA Annual S&H Conference in January 31, 2007.
One of the Madison Compliance Officers gave a presentation on agricultural accidents. Conference
attendees included 50 attendees from multiple establishments.
- Outreach and Communication - No activities were held outside the annual safety conference.
- Promoting the National Dialogue on Safety and Health – There has been no significant product in
this area.
Alliance Products.
- There has been no significant product development as a result of this alliance.
