Technical Abstract: As part of an IPM plan for mycotoxins in Midwest corn developed at USDA-ARS, Peoria, IL, a predictive computer program was developed. This program takes ear and insect data and predicts potential problems at silking (so controls can be implemented if desired) and prior to hard dough (so early harvest can be implemented if desired). The program has been validated with data collected from several commercial fields over the past few years and gives realistic predictions in most cases.
