History of Medicine Reading Room Enters 21st Century

The History of Medicine Division (HMD) Reading Room at the National Library of Medicine (NLM) will be closed for renovation March 21-March 29, 2002. During that time, there will be no stack service for HMD materials (pre-1871 journals, pre-1914 monographs, modern manuscripts, and historical audiovisuals). HMD items on microfilm can be requested from the Main Reading Room, which will be open as usual.

During the renovation, HMD will continue normal interlibrary loan operations, e-mail reference (hmdref@nlm.nih.gov), and telephone reference (301-402-8878), though you may reach voicemail rather than a person. Staff will return phone calls as promptly as possible.

Staff members expect the HMD Reading Room to resume normal operations the first week in April.
