NLM expands Go Local

May 4, 2005: NLM expanded MedlinePlus Go Local coverage to include the states of Indiana and Massachusetts. Patients, families, and friends from those states join residents of North Carolina and Missouri in being able to link from MedlinePlus health information to local health services. For example, they can be looking at information on Diabetic Diet on MedlinePlus and link to local endocrinologists, dietitians, or diabetes clinics in their state.

These two states are the first areas to use the NLM's new Go Local system. NLM now provides Go Local projects with a management system for all the descriptive information for the health services in their area. This system provides the links with MedlinePlus health information and frees the local Go Local project team from maintaining networked hardware or software. Each Go Local site uses their knowledge of local health services to promote Go Local to the citizens, health professionals and, and service providers in their area.

May 11, 2004: South Texas is now part of MedlinePlus Go Local. Residents of 38 counties in Southern Texas can find local health services via Lone Star Go Local, hosted by the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
