| Petty Officer Second Class Clint Foster clings to the Jacob's ladder of an Iranian cargo ship waiting for pick up after a maritime interdiction operation in the Persian Gulf on March 6, 1998. Crew members from the USS John S. McCain (DDG-56) boarded and inspected the ship for possible contraband. The Arleigh Burke class destroyer is conducting the interception operations as part of a force augmentation in the region. The McCain is home ported in Yokosuka, Japan.
