MMWR Introduction
The February 4, 2005, issue of the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR)
contains a report entitled, “Tobacco Use Among
Students Aged 13–15 Years—Philippines, 2000 and 2003."
The report contains findings from the Global Youth Tobacco
Survey conducted in the
Philippines in 2000 and
2003 which reveals substantial declines in a representative sample of
students aged 13–15 years who currently smoke cigarettes, currently use
other tobacco products, are likely to start smoking in the next year, or are
exposed to secondhand smoke in public places.
