Green Building and C&D Materials
Builders and building owners across the country are proving through thousands of new projects that "green building" techniques save money, energy, resources and create work and living spaces that appeal to people. Careful consideration of how C&D materials are generated and managed is a critical element of green building. See the following resources for more information:
EPA's Green Building site is focused on how to reduce environmental impact of buildings and create more resource-efficient models of construction, renovation, operation, maintenance, and demolition.
EPA Lifecycle Building Challenge 3 (LBC3). Participate in the Lifecycle Building Challenge 3! LBC3 is an exciting national competition to develop strategies supporting building deconstruction and material reuse. Everyone is encouraged to enter including students and professionals interested in policy, recycling, design, architecture, engineering, education, and more.
The U.S.
Green Building Council (USGBC) 
is a coalition of leaders from across the building industry working to
promote environmentally responsible buildings. USGBC runs Greenbuild , an outreach program that promotes green building at USGBC’s Annual
International Green Building Conference and Expo.

EPA's GreenScapes program offers a success story about the Aspen Skiing Company in Aspen, Colorado that decided to reuse building materials and create compost out of the remaining materials instead of throwing them away.
Association of General Contractors
(AGC) provides Green Construction Resources that include state and local Green
Building Programs, AGC Environmental Solution Series and Green construction
Bible, and others in their Environmental section. Users can access these
resources by clicking on the "Research a Topic" option at the
top of AGC home page and then choosing "Environmental."
