Elk in the Schoolyard

On Saturday, September 18, 2004 Jen Shoemaker (District Interpreter for the Grant District) was driving passed the schoolyard at Mammoth Hot Springs. She noticed a family playing on the swings with elk just beyond them. After shooting video of the elk cows and children, she noticed a large bull elk across the schoolyard. The elk bugled a few times, then slowly moved away, allowing the children to reclaim their playground equipment. Learn more about elk.
