This Month in Yellowstone
Pronghorn Antelope

While traveling home from the park, Craig Johnson, a visual information specialist, observed a large harem of eight to 10 does that a pronghorn antelope buck had gathered just outside the north entrance station. He stopped to shoot this footage Sept. 21, and then later that day, observed a pair feeding in a meadow just below the Rescue Creek Bridge parking lot. The male is walking with a limp, which may have resulted from a skirmish with another male over breeding rights. The pronghorn population within the park is estimated between 225-250.
