Plume Tracking Survey

As part of its assessment of cruise ship discharges, EPA conducted a survey to study the dilution of discharges from cruise ships in June 2001. This survey tracked plumes of water and Rhodamine WT dye released through normal wastewater effluent-discharge systems in ships operating off the Florida coast to provide information on dilution of cruise ship discharges in offshore waters.
