GALVESTON, Texas -- The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Texas Chemical Council's (TCC) Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Seminar Committee will sign an alliance Thursday, June 9 promoting safe and healthy working conditions for workers in the chemical and refinery industry. The signing ceremony, beginning at noon at the Moody Gardens Hotel and Conference Center in Galveston, is part of a three-day seminar from June 6-9. The seminar will feature industry experts providing quality training focusing on those hazards unique to the chemical and refining industries.
OSHA's alliances are part of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao's ongoing efforts to improve the health and safety of workers through cooperative partnerships with trade associations, labor organizations and employers. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has created more than 230 alliances with organizations committed to fostering safety and health in the workplace The Texas Chemical Council, comprised of 85 member companies, is a statewide trade association of chemical manufacturing facilities in Texas. # # #
