The North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park is temporarily closed.

A thunderstorm producing heavy rains and hail which came through the park about 2:30 Tuesday afternoon caused flooding and landslides to cover portions of the road in the Gardiner River Canyon which links Gardiner, Montana, and Mammoth Hot Springs.

The closed area is located between the entrance station and the Montana/Wyoming state line (45th parallel).  Park staff estimate the road will be closed until at least 7 p.m.

The Public Affairs Office is actively pursuing further information and digital images which will be distributed as soon as available.
