ARMY

TRW Inc., Tactical Systems, Carson, Calif., was awarded on May 17, 2001, an $891,140 delivery order amount as part of a not-to-exceed $50,000,000 delivery order/time and material delivery orders (for system technical services) and firm-fixed-price delivery orders (for production hardware/software/services) contract. The effort includes electronic system technical support requirements for the M109A6 Paladin self-propelled howitzer and M992 field artillery ammunition supply vehicles. Work will be performed in Carson, Calif., and is expected to be completed by Jan. 5, 2006. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were seven bids solicited on Nov. 9, 2000, and one bid was received. The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive & Armaments Command, Picatinny Arsenal, N.J., is the contracting activity (DAAE30-01-D-1003).

Medlin Construction Group Ltd. *, San Antonio, Texas, is being awarded a $12,792,639 firm-fixed-price contract for construction of a U.S. Army Recruiting Center (1,500 member) training building, a storage building, alteration of the organizational maintenance shop and privately owned vehicle parking at the north end of Fort Sam Houston and a construction equipment concentration site and maintenance shop at the south end of Fort Sam Houston. Work will be performed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and is expected to be completed by Aug. 19, 2002. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 160 bids solicited on Jan. 31, 2001, and five bids were received. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth, Texas, is the contracting activity (DACA63-01-C-0004).

John C. Grimberg Company Inc., Rockville, Md., is being awarded $6,175,000 as part of an estimated $12,945,000 firm-fixed-price contract for construction of a Munitions Assessment Processing System (MAPS) facility for the safe accessing of range-recovered chemical munitions. The MAPS will provide a method for safely removing the chemical payload from explosively configured munitions, enabling both the chemicals and explosives to be treated and disposed of safely. The building will be built on a reinforced concrete slab with the processing area having epoxy-coated, reinforced concrete walls and concrete ceiling. The remainder of the building is structural steel construction. The building contains process vessels, glove boxes and containment chambers that are furnished by the government to be installed and fitted out by the contractor. Major systems in MAPS include stand-by power, process and environmental controls, negative pressure ventilation systems and air monitoring equipment. Work will be performed at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., and is expected to be completed by June 1, 2003. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 83 bids solicited on Feb. 15, 2001, and two bids were received. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore, Md., is the contracting activity (DACA31-01-C-0024).

Sikorsky Aircraft Co., Stratford, Conn., is being awarded a $9,218,800 delivery order amount as part of an estimated $24,556,910 indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for 95 main rotor blades for the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. Work will be performed in Stratford, Conn., and is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2001. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This is a sole source contract initiated on Jan. 31, 2001. The U.S. Army Aviation & Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, Ala., is the contracting activity (DAAH23-01-D-0139).

CIVIL WORKS - NON MILITARY

Weeks Marine Inc., St. Rose, La., is being awarded a $14,766,000 firm-fixed-price contract to place approximately 2,000,000 cubic yards of beach fill on the oceanfront resort beach at Virginia Beach, Va. The contract will include an optional bid item to provide up to another 1,000,000 cubic yards of beach fill. The beach fill material will be dredged from government furnished borrow sites located in Thimble Shoal Channel and the Atlantic Ocean Channel with a maximum allowable dredging depth of 60 feet. All work to be performed on this contract will be planned and accomplished in a manner to not disturb the nesting or foraging activities of birds, marine life and wildlife in any way. Work will be performed between Rudee Inlet and 89th St. at Fort Story and is expected to be completed by Dec. 30, 2001. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 90 bids solicited on March 12, 2001, and two bids were received. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk, Va., is the contracting activity (DACW65-01-C-0034).

NAVY

Lockheed Martin, Government Electronics Systems, Moorestown, N.J., is being awarded a $30,002,956 cost-plus-award-fee level-of-effort option exercise for 326,000 man-hours to perform Aegis Combat System Baseline upgrades and critical experiments. The work will be performed in Moorestown, N.J., and is expected to be completed by May 2002. Contract funds in the amount of $236,273 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Arlington, Va., is the contracting activity (N00024-98-C-5197).

Bell-Boeing Joint Program Office, Patuxent River, Md., is being awarded an $18,900,000 modification to previously awarded advance acquisition contract (N00019-00-C-0183) to provide additional funding for the manufacture and delivery of the Fiscal Year 2001 production V-22 aircraft. Work will be performed in Ridley Park, Pa. (50%); Fort Worth, Texas (35%); and Amarillo, Texas (15%), and is expected to be completed by October 2003. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.

Rockwell Collins Government Systems, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is being awarded a $17,658,290 modification to previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract (N00019-01-C-0092) to exercise an option for the production of 307 AN/ARC-210(V) Electronic Protection Radio Systems (49 RT-1556B, 34 RT-1747D, 50 RT-1824C, 174 RT-1794C ARC radios), including ancillary equipment and associated support. This contract combines purchases for the U.S. Navy (134: 49 RT-1556B, 35 RT-1794C and 50 RT-1824C), the U.S. Air Force (83: 49 RT-1794C and 34 RT-1747D), the U.S. Army (24 RT-1794C) and the Canadian government (66 RT-1794C) under the Foreign Military Sales Program. Work will be performed in Cedar Rapids, Iowa (80%), and Coralville, Iowa (20%), and is expected to be completed by December 2002. Contract funds in the amount of $3,305,592 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.

Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC), San Diego, Calif., is being awarded a $5,998,731 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to develop innovative concepts and techniques for shallow-water processing of mobile towed-array acoustic data. Work will be performed in McLean, Va. (50%); Arlington, Va. (32%); San Diego, Calif. (9%); Reston, Va. (7%); Ronkonkoma, N.Y. (1%); and Portsmouth, R.I. (1%), and is expected to be completed by May 2003. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively awarded utilizing a Broad Agency Announcement that was posted to the Commerce Business Daily, with five offers received. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Arlington, Va., is the contracting activity (N00024-01-C-6319).
