NAVY

Reliable Mechanical, Inc., Louisville, Ky., is being awarded a $15,231,989 firm-fixed-price contract to provide mechanical, electrical and architectural modifications/repairs to the existing Naval Hospital at Naval Station, Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico. This contract includes an option which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $16,422,579. Work will be performed in Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico, and is expected to be completed by August 2000. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured with 32 proposals solicited and two offers received. The Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Atlantic Division, Norfolk, Va., is the contracting activity (N62470-96-C-6103).

ARMY

Hughes Aircraft Co., Sensors and Communications Systems Segment, El Segundo, Calif., is being awarded a $600,000 increment as part of a $12,582,409 cost-plus-fixed-fee/level-of-effort-basic effort (option is cost-plus-incentive-fee/level-of-effort) contract to advance the concepts and to develop, enhance, and optimize the architecture and components for compact signal processing electronics for imaging sensors, leading to an improvement in size, weight, and power by at least an order of magnitude compared to current signal processing standard industry practice. Work will be performed in El Segundo, Calif., and is expected to be completed by Sept. 2, 2002. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 35 bids solicited on June 6, 1997, and two bids were received. The contracting activity is the U.S. Army Space and Strategic Defense Command, Huntsville, Ala. (DASG60-97-C-0068).

Straub Construction Inc., Fallbrook, Calif., is being awarded a $9,196,000 firm-fixed-price contract for construction of a three-story, 144 occupant concrete masonry dormitory with separate service module. Each living suite includes two bedrooms, a bath and a kitchen. Service module includes laundry, storage and lounge areas. Demolition of the existing dormitories is also included. Work will be performed at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, and is expected to be completed by March 31, 2000. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 86 bids solicited on May 19, 1997, and four bids were received. The con-tracting activity is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento, Calif. (DACA05-97-C-0121).
