Raytheon Company, Electronic Systems, Portsmouth, R.I., is being awarded an $8,907,650 cost- plus-fixed-fee contract to plan, research and develop, integrate and test an advanced development model of integrated undersea warfare for the twenty-first century (IUSW-21). Work will be performed in Portsmouth, R.I. (95%) and Covina, Calif. (5%), and is expected to be completed by December 2002. Contract funds in the amount of $23,000 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured under a broad agency announcement and 57 offers were received. Science Applications International Corp., San Diego, Calif., is being awarded a $2,366,000 increment as part of a $12,699,861 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for an Omnibus Nuclear Assessment. This will provide the U.S. and NATO with the tools required to understand the consequences of nuclear attacks. These fast-running tools must be capable of performing target damage and collateral effects assessments in urban and rural environments and their engineering algorithms must be based on validated first-principle models. This effort will also provide direct support to the U.S. Strategic Command tool development. Work will be performed in San Diego, Calif. (65%); McLean, Va. (25%), and Alexandria, Va. (10%), and is expected to be completed by Oct. 1, 2005. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 25 bids solicited on Oct. 20, 1999, and one bid was received. The Defense Threat Reduction Agency, Alexandria, Va., is the contracting activity (DTRA01-00-C-0008).

Science Applications International Corp (SAIC), Torrance, Calif., is being awarded a $22,393,094 (estimated) option to a cost-plus-award-fee contract, F04701-93-C-0011-P00158, to provide for engineering, analysis, and design support for Air Force missile defense programs. This effort will focus on national and theater missile defense, sensors, weapons, and battle management/command, control, communications systems. Expected contract completion date is Feb. 21, 2001.
