Cooperative Research

We are always interested in the potential for cooperative research if overlap occurs between the research goals of external organizations and APTB's research goals.

We have participated in cooperative research with EPA's Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) grantees, as well as with companies that have acquired funding through EPA's Superfund Innovative Technology Evaluation (SITE) program. In addition, research may be funded through the Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) program and the Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP). For additional information about ETV and SERDP, please visit the web sites listed below or return to the APPCD Home page or a synopsis of these programs.

Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs)

The Federal Technology Transfer Act (FTTA) authorizes the federal government to conduct joint research with industrial or institutional organizations and protect intellectual property that may be developed. CRADAs can be set up between interested parties which will provide for the transfer of resources from non-government organizations to the federal government so that both parties can share jointly in research and jointly developed patents. Licensing agreements and royalty rights are also covered under these agreements.

A sample CRADA may be viewed or downloaded in Adobe Acrobat format by clicking on the link following this paragraph. For additional information, please contact Bob Hall at 919/541-2477 or by email at hall.bob@epa.gov.
