CONTRACTS

 

NAVY

 

            Newport News Shipbuilding, Newport News, Va., is being awarded a $98,566,560 cost-plus-fixed-fee modification under previously awarded contract (N00024-02-C-2905) to exercise options for planning yard, design, configuration management and logistics support services for SSN 688, SSN 21, and SSBN Class operational and new construction submarines.  The contract provides for expanded planning yard efforts, including non-nuclear overhaul design for SSN 688 and SSBN class submarines, and engineering and technical support of material condition evaluations and improvement of ship systems and equipment.  The contract will also provide engineering, technical, and design support for SSN 21 class submarines.  Work will be performed in Newport News, Va., and is expected to be completed by September 2004.  Contract funds in the amount of $43,000,000 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.

 

            McDonnell Douglas Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Co., St. Louis, Mo., is being awarded a $10,852,938 modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed price contract (N00019-01-C-0040) for the production of 86 Harpoon Missile Block II retrofit kits and 24 warhead section kits, for the governments of Egypt (62 retrofit kits) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) (24 retrofit kits; 24 warhead section kits).  Work will be performed in St. Charles, Mo. (51%), Clearwater, Fla. (29%), Middletown, Conn. (4%), Arlington, Texas (4%), Bayshore, N.Y. (4%), Galena, Kan. (3%), Kirkwood, Mo. (3%), and Lowell, Mass. (2%), and is expected to be completed in March 2005.  Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  This modification combines purchases for Egypt ($7,144,818; 66%) and the United Arab Emirates ($3,708,120; 34%) under the Foreign Military Sales Program.  The Naval Air Systems Command, Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.

 

AIR FORCE

 

            The Boeing Co., St. Louis, Mo., is being awarded a $60,510,909 firm fixed price contract modification.  This is to exercise options to install and integrate T-38 production hardware into the T-38 airframe, option to acquire production data, option to acquire over & above labor materials as well as option to acquire interior cockpit painting for the T-38 C avionics system upgrade.  The location of performance is The Boeing Co., Williams Gateway Airport, Mesa, Ariz., 85007.  Total funds have been obligated.  This work will be complete by December 2004.  The Headquarters Aeronautical systems Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity (F33657-95-C-0057, P00166).

 

ARMY

 

            B.L. Harbert International L.L.C., Birmingham, Ala., was awarded on Nov. 12, 2003, a $40,063,000 firm-fixed-price contract for design and construction of barracks, one headquarters and headquarters company operations building, three battalion headquarters buildings, and two brigade headquarters buildings and supporting facilities.  Work will be performed at Fort Campbell, Ky., and is expected to be completed by Nov. 30, 2006.  Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  There were 215 bids solicited on Nov. 11, 2002, and 11 bids were received.  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville, Ky., is the contracting activity (DACA27-03-C-0007).

 

            AM General L.L.C., Mishawaka, Ind., was awarded on Nov. 7, 2003, a delivery order amount of $422,498 as part of a $5,803,692 firm-fixed-price contract for 495 time meter recorders.  Work will be performed in Mishawaka, Ind., and is expected to be completed by Nov. 5, 2008.  Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  There were an unknown number of bids solicited via the World Wide Web on April 3, 2003, and one bid was received.  The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Warren, Mich., is the contracting activity (W56HZV-04-D-0010).

 

DEFENSE LOGISTICS AGENCY

 

            Hawkeye Glove Mfg.*, Fort Dodge, Iowa, is being awarded $6,176,220 firm fixed price type of contract for gloves for the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Marine Corps.  Work will also be performed in Dermott, Ark.; Beardstown, Illi.; and, Buckeye, Iowa.  Performance completion date is expected to be July 28, 2004.  Contract funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  There were three proposal solicitations and three responded.  The contracting activity is Defense Supply Center Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pa.  (SP0100-04-C-4043).
