ARMY

The Law Co. Inc., Wichita, Kan., is being awarded a $14,790,000 firm-fixed-price contract for construction of a single-story brick masonry battalion headquarters building, a single-story brick masonry three-company operations facility, a single-story brick masonry four-company operations facility, and the extension of major roadways around the barracks complex under construction. Work will be performed at Ft. Riley, Kan., and is expected to be completed by April 15, 2001. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There was an announcement in the Commerce Business Daily on July 16, 1999, and three bids were received. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City, Mo., is the contracting activity (DACA41-99-C-0024).

The Boeing Co., Huntsville, Ala., is being awarded a $19,396,636 (base year total) firm-fixed-price contract, with a cumulative total of $982,227,420, if all options are exercised (base year plus four option years), for 14 Avenger Fire Units. The Avenger Fire Unit is a lightweight, highly mobile and air transportable platform that uses a Stinger Missile and a 50-caliber machine gun for armament, and is operated by a two-man crew for defense against helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft at low altitude in day or night operations that occur in clear or adverse weather. Work will be performed in Huntsville, Ala., and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2003. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This is a sole source contract initiated on March 5, 1999. The U.S. Army Aviation & Missile Command, Huntsville, Ala., is the contracting activity (DAAH01-99-C-0077).

GTE Government Systems Corp., Communications Systems Division, Taunton, Mass., is being awarded a $10,155,811 modification to firm-fixed-price contract DAAB07-94-C-N853, for common hardware/software items for the Project Manager, Army Tactical Command and Control Systems computers and associated peripherals for battlefield commanders. Work will be performed in Taunton, Mass., and is expected to be completed by April 10, 2005. Of the total contract funds, $260,286 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 50 bids solicited on April 21, 1994, and three bids were received. The U.S. Army Communications & Electronics Command, Ft. Monmouth, N.J., is the contracting activity.

Condor Systems*, Simi Valley, Calif., is being awarded $8,513,414 (base year total) as part of a $25,000,000 (total if all options are exercised) firm-fixed-price and time and materials contract for 40 Shortstop Electronic Protection Systems (SEPS). The SEPS electronic warfare system automatically detects proximity fused munitions and causes them to pre-detonate, thereby protecting personnel and high value targets from most predominant indirect fire threats. Work will be performed in Simi Valley, Calif., and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2001. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This is a sole source contract initiated on July 20, 1999. The U.S. Army Communications & Electronics Command, Ft. Monmouth, N.J., is the contracting activity (DAAB07-99-C-H005).

ConStructure Inc.*, Greenville, S.C., is being awarded a $10,843,271 firm-fixed-price contract for construction of the D-Area Barracks Upgrade, Phase II. The project consists of the renovation of two existing barracks buildings using the R1, Standard Unaccompanied Enlisted Personnel Housing Renovation Module, and construction of a new 200-soldier community building. Supporting facilities include utilities, electrical service, steam and chilled water distribution, paving, walks, curbs and gutters, storm drainage, asbestos abatement, and site improvements. Work will be performed at Ft. Bragg, N.C., and is expected to be completed by Oct. 1, 2001. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 146 bids solicited on May 17, 1999, and nine bids were received. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah, Ga., is the contracting activity (DACA21-99-C-0041).

CIVIL WORKS - NON MILITARY

Lametti & Sons Inc.*, Hugo, Minn., is being awarded a $40,000 increment as part of a $5,674,364 firm-fixed-price contract for construction of a bluff protection project at Lock and Dam No. 1, on the Mississippi River. Work will be performed in Minneapolis, Minn., and is expected to be completed by Sept. 28, 2001. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 65 bids solicited on June 23, 1999, and six bids were received. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul, Minn., is the contracting activity (DACW37-99-C-0019).
