EDO-Darlington, Incorporated, Wando, S.C., is being awarded a $240,000,000 indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, firm-fixed-price/time and material maximum contract for procurement of up to 476 transition switch modules. Transition switch modules provide a flexible unit level switch capability to transition between legacy tri-service tactical switches and current commercial technology providing three major functions -- thedeployable end office suite (DEOS), the remote subscriber access module (RSAM), and the deployable integrated transport suite (DITS). The DEOS will provide a basic voice circuit switching, subscriber access and call service attendant capabilities. The RSAM will provide the capability to extend telephone and dial-up data services to remote subscribers. The DITS will be used in conjunction with a DEOS to provide bandwidth management, multiplexing, and technical control functions. Components of the DEOS and DITS will be integrated into transit and storage cases for unit transport. The contract includes testing, associated training, training devices, spares, contractor interim support services, field service representatives, engineering/logistics services, and provisioning technical documentation. This project includes, but is not limited to: plan, design, manage and perform all work associated with a wide variety of construction projects in support of real property maintenance, repair, alteration and/or new construction at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Dare County Bomb Range, and Ft. Fisher, N.C. Efforts will include various construction trades and disciplines. The work involved includes, but is not limited to carpentry, road repair, roofing, excavation, interior and electrical, steam fitting, plumbing, sheet metal, painting, demolition, concrete masonry, and welding. The Air Force can issue delivery orders totaling up to the maximum amount indicated above, although actual requirements may necessitate less than the amount above. This action is for the award of a basic contract for a base period of six months plus four option periods of one year each. No funds have been obligated. This work will be complete by December 2004.
