Unit Company *, Anchorage, Alaska, is being awarded a $7,930,000 firm-fixed-price contract for renovation and addition to the approximately 48,000 square feet Orion Elementary School. Renovation includes upgrade of outside play areas, parking and building entrances, general renovation of all architectural features, heating, ventilating/air conditioner system, all electrical systems, fire alarm system and a new addition to the administration area and new gymnasium. Work will be performed at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, and is expected to be completed by Aug. 1, 1999. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 46 bids solicited on March 30, 1998, and three bids were received. The contracting activity is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Anchorage, Alaska (DACA85-98-C-0014).
