Growing Season Underway

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has began issuing
frost advisories and freeze watches and warnings as of May 1st across
all of Southwest and West Central Lower Michigan. The growing season began
on May 1st and continues into October or after the first killing freeze in
the fall.

A frost advisory means that frost is expected to form, which could damage
tender plants. A freeze warning means that temperatures of 32 degrees or
lower are expected, which would kill tender plants unless they are protected.

Here are average dates for the last freezing temperatures of Spring
for some locations in southwest Lower Michigan.
