ENVIRO-TIPS OF THE MONTH

Turn off the tap! Turning off the water while you brush your teeth can save up to 8 gallons of water per day, which equals 240 gallons a month. Find out more about using water wisely.

WHAT YOU CAN DO, WHAT YOU CAN USE

Test your home for radon. Radon gas occurs naturally but is the No. 1 cause of lung cancer in non-smokers. Nearly 50 people a day will die from indoor exposure to radon.

Help older adults avoid CO. You can install CO alarms in areas where older adults sleep, be attentive to possible symptoms of CO poisoning, and more easy steps.

eCycle your old TV. If you are not keeping your old, analog TV, take it to a recycling center so they can recover valuable materials and keeps toxic materials out of the environment. Digital Transition is February 17.

Reduce stormwater runoff. The on-line video, "Reduce Runoff: Slow It Down, Spread It Out, Soak It In," highlights green techniques you can use, such as rain gardens, green roofs and rain barrels.
