July is UV Safety month: The UV Index predicts the strength of harmful solar rays. Check the UV Index on your weather forecast map - when you know how strong the sun's rays will be, you can take steps to protect yourself and your family from overexposure to the sun.

Save on cooling costs with a programmable thermostat - When used correctly, Energy Star-qualified programmable thermostats can save money on energy bills and help fight global warming. A programmable thermostat can save about $180 a year on home energy bills.

Water-saving homes are coming soon - in the near future new homes can have WaterSense built into them, based on developing criteria to be certified and labeled under the WaterSense program.

Don't top off! During hot weather, don't top off your gas tank. Even a small gas spill adds to air pollution and wastes fuel.
