Call for Peer Reviewers: Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives

Current Section

The U.S. Department of Education continually seeks qualified people to evaluate grant applications. If you have experience and expertise in a particular field of education, you could become a peer (grant) reviewer and see firsthand what it takes to write a successful grant application.

The training, grant review procedure, time commitment and compensation vary from grant program to grant program. Some programs require travel to Washington, D.C. (at the Department of Education's expense), while other programs rely on the use of technology so that grant evaluations can be done from the reviewer's home.

A list of grant programs and peer reviewer qualifications is included. If you have experience in any of these areas, please complete the registration form PDF | Word and return it, along with a cover letter and a current resume. In the cover letter, please tell us the grant programs you are interested in reviewing. Our office will forward your information to the appropriate program offices. The grant program officers will evaluate your qualifications and add your name to the pool of potential peer reviewers.

Please understand that completing this form does not automatically mean you will become a peer reviewer. It will, however, inform the grant programs that you are interested. It is also important to remember that our office is not involved in the selection of peer reviewers or in the evaluation of grants. If you have any specific questions about a grant program, please contact the program office directly.

Please do not be concerned if you do not get an immediate response. Grant competitions are conducted at many times during the year; even if you are selected it may be several months before you hear anything. Grant competitions are conducted on a cycle. If you are not selected for this year's cycle, your application will be on file for the next grant cycle.

Thank you for your interest and for working with us to ensure no child is left behind.
