EFIN Services and Outreach

The Environmental Financing Information Network is comprised of:

  • Website:

EFIN is responsible for maintaining and updating the Center for Environmental Finance's Web site. The Web site contains information on the components of the CEF, the Environmental Advisory Board (EFAB) and the Environmental Finance Center Network (EFCs), and provides full text versions of some of their publications. One of these is the Guidebook of Financial Tools, a comprehensive source of approximately 340 funding alternatives. There are also Financial Tools pages, which have links to sources within the EPA and Outside the agency. The Web site provides easy access to all the activities of the CEF.

  • Online Database:

The EFIN database is a collection of abstracts representing publications and other relevant materials (articles, case studies, guides, legislation, handbooks, memoranda, reports, proceedings, surveys, papers) which deal with environmental financing. Each record in the database provides basic descriptive information about the information resource, together with ordering information and a point of contact for further reference. The EFIN database also provides profiles of individuals, agencies, and associations who can be contacted for information on environmental financing. The Librarian will perform searches for those individuals without access to the EFIN database, and the results of the search will be sent to the patron either by fax, electronic mail, or U.S. mail. Click here for instructions on accessing the EFIN database.

  • Infoline:

The EFIN Center operates an infoline that provides callers with referrals, assistance with accessing and searching the EFIN database, and a point of contact for ordering documents. The infoline number is: (202) 564-4994 and the hours of operation are: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm (Eastern Standard Time), Monday-Friday (excluding Federal Holidays). The EFIN Center can also be reached via FAX at: (202) 565-2587 and electronic mail at efin(@)epa.gov.

  • Publication Distribution:

The records in the EFIN database include ordering information for the documents. The EFIN Librarian distributes publications produced by: the Center for Environmental Finance (CEF), the Environmental Financial Advisory Board (EFAB), and the Environmental Finance Centers(EFCs). Some of these are available in full text on the CEF Web site.

  • For documents published by other EPA Offices, the Librarian will direct the patron to the appropriate contact. The contact will also be in the ordering information in the abstracts.

Note: Many EPA documents are available in full-text on the EPA's World Wide Web site or can be ordered via the National Service Center for Environmental Publications Catalog.

Those EFIN database records that feature publications produced by non-EPA sources provide directions for obtaining those publications from the appropriate source.

Requests are accepted through fax, phone, or electronic mail. Replies will be sent by fax (for documents under 20 pages), electronic mail and U.S. mail.

For assistance please contact the EFIN Librarian.
