Rodney
G. Benson
was appointed
to the
Drug Enforcement
Administration’s
(DEA)
Atlanta
Field
Division
in March
2007.
He is
responsible
for directing
and leading
federal
drug enforcement
operations
throughout
the states
of Georgia,
North
Carolina,
South
Carolina,
and Tennessee.
Special
Agent
in Charge
Benson
began
his career
with the
DEA as
a student
intern
in 1983,
and was
hired
as a Special
Agent
in Boston,
Massachusetts
in 1986.
Mr. Benson
served
as a Special
Agent
in Newark,
New Jersey,
from February
1987 through
September
1995.
In October
1995,
Mr. Benson
was promoted
to Resident
Agent
in Charge
in Imperial
County,
California,
where
he supervised
enforcement
efforts
targeting
national
and international
Mexican
drug trafficking
organizations.
In March
1998,
Mr. Benson
transferred
to DEA
Headquarters
and was
assigned
to International
Operations,
Mexico
and Central
America
Section,
where
he coordinated
enforcement
activities
conducted
by DEA
offices
in Mexico
and Central
America.
In
October
1999,
Mr. Benson
was promoted
to Assistant
Special
Agent
in Charge
(ASAC)
of the
Special
Operations
Division
where
he coordinated
national
and international
drug trafficking
operations.
From February
2002 through
August
2004,
Mr. Benson
served
as an
ASAC in
the Boston
Field
Division,
where
he directed
enforcement
efforts
in Massachusetts.
Mr. Benson
was the
Special
Agent
in Charge
of the
Seattle
Field
Division from
September
2004,
until
his reassignment
as the
Special
Agent
in Charge
of the
Atlanta
Division.
SAC Benson
graduated
from Northeastern
University
in 1986,
with a
Bachelor
of Science
Degree
in Criminal
Justice.
