The Regional FOI Office coordinates and oversees the Regional FOIA program by conducting the following activities:
- develops and reviews Regional FOIA procedures, policies and guidance;
- reviews Division's procedures;
- provides advice and training to all Regional personnel who handle FOIA requests;
- initially receives, logs, and routes all FOIA requests;
- coordinates fee waiver decisions;
- maintains the official FOIA files;
- monitors quality, timeliness, and consistency of responses;
- monitors and analyzes Regional FOIA activities; handles/coordinates disputes (including billing) and appeals;
- prepares the Annual Report to Congress;
- serves as the Regional point of contact for Headquarters, other Federal and state agencies and the private sector; and
- evaluates and implements new technologies to improve Regional FOIA responsiveness and efficiency.
