Missions of the Riverside location facilities:

The U.S. Salinity Laboratory is a National Laboratory for basic research on the chemistry, physics, and biology of salt-affected soil-plant-water systems. Its mission is to develop, through research, new knowledge and technology dedicated to the solution of problems of crop production on salt-affected lands, sustainability of irrigated agriculture, and degradation of associated surface- and ground-water resources by salts, toxic elements, pesticides and pathogens associated with animal wastes.

The mission of the National Clonal Germplasm Repository is to collect, maintain, evaluate, and distribute pathogen free clonal germplasm of citrus, related Aurantioideas genera and dates.
