RevPG: DLG Arc/Info-Based
Revision and Product Generation Software

RevPG (Revision and Product Generation) is a collection of ARC/INFO Arc Macro Language (AML) programs, C routines, shell scripts, and interface menus. This software was developed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to support the revision of Digital Line Graph (DLG) data. Under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI), Inc., it has been ported to a number of Unix environments. Recent USGS efforts have ported RevPG to Windows_NT and maintained Unix platform support.

At USGS, DLG revision is performed using a Digital Orthophoto Quadrangle (DOQ) which is a high-altitude aerial photograph that has been scanned and geographically corrected. RevPG also provides display symbology and other support for the production of printed maps from DLG's corresponding to standard USGS topographic quadrangle specifications.

RevPG is now available for download to use with Windows NT and a number of Unix workstation environments. See the text files README in the ftp directory and the release notes for more information on RevPG, system and disk requirements, and how to retrieve and install it at your site.
