ABSTRACT: The Equal Employment Opportunity Staff (EEOS) maintains an information system consisting of investigative files and data related to complaints of discrimination. The investigative files contain affidavits, personnel records and information, and statistics.

PURPOSE: The purpose of collecting this information is to assist in the processing of complaints of discrimination filed by employees and applicants for employment to the Department. The maintenance of this information facilitates the resolution and adjudication of the complaints process and is utilized at all stages (e.g. for disposition at Equal Employment Opportunity Commission hearings, final agency decision, settlement conferences). Additionally, EEOS must also maintain an investigative record in the event the applicant or employee files a civil action in Federal District Court.

ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: Access to this information is on a need to know basis as determined by the Director and Deputy of the EEOS.

USE CONSTRAINTS: The EEOS has responsibility for investigating allegations of discrimination filed by employees or applicants for employment at the Department of Justice.

AGENCY PROGRAM: This program supports the requirement that all Federal agencies provide equal opportunity in federal employment and prohibit discrimination in employment because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age or disability.

SOURCES OF DATA: Data contained by the EEOS is the result of EEO investigations conducted or overseen by this office.
