METHOD: A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to 695 students in 9 secondary schools in Hong Kong. The answers concerning their knowledge and attitude towards AIDS were analysed. RESULT: TABULAR DATA, SEE ABSTRACT VOLUME. CONCLUSION: The secondary school students of Hong Kong are well informed about the general knowledge of AIDS. Certain misconceptions about the risk of casual contact still exist and may explain discriminatory reactions to persons with AIDS. The relatively minor role of schools and parents in AIDS education is a cause for concern as they should provide the most accurate information.
