Abilities Expo: One Man’s Vision of Progress Becomes a Community’s Reality. Thirty years ago, Richard Wooten, motivated by his own physical challenges, dreamed of an event that would help to forge a better life for others with disabilities. This inspired vision became Abilities Expo, a trade show which resonated with the community of people with disabilities and whose effects would be felt for decades to come.

Now, Abilities Expo is the leading event for 54 million Americans with disabilities, their caregivers, healthcare professionals and corporate ADA/HR administrators to receive education and view the latest, life-altering technologies, products and services. Under new management in 2009, these 3-day expos will now have even more to offer the Community.

From leading-edge wheelchairs to high-tech vans, manufacturers, distributors and service providers showcase a host of products and services that will enable people with disabilities to drastically improve their daily lives.

The seminar program has been strategically redesigned to attract a wider range of consumers and industry professionals. Healthcare professionals can earn CEUs while they receive informative, career-relevant training. Abilities Expo has also developed a conference program to address the needs of corporate executives, families, adult consumers, seniors and caregivers. Seminars and workshops will encompass ADA compliance training, family oriented issues, adaptive housing, travel, cooking, assistive living, age-related fitness, intimacy and dating.

In addition to a fine-tuned consumer program, Abilities Expo now offers an exciting new format for professionals serving people with disabilities. New training seminars developed specifically for physical/ occupational therapists and professional healthcare providers will enhance their careers and allow them to earn CEUs. Corporate executives charged with implementing their company's initiatives will gain new knowledge and insights from a series of ADA seminars. The new and improved Abilities Expo will provide an effective forum for professional networking.

Community Outreach Through New Ambassador Program For each regional community outreach effort, Abilities Expo have engaged Ambassadors—members of the local community of people with disabilities. These inspiring people will increase our market visibility and increase attendance at each event through their visits to rehab institutions, independent living centers, local manufacturers, service providers and local associations.
