The Division of Tribal Justice Support was established at the direction of Congress after support from the Native American Indian Court Judges Association. The Division is tasked with providing technical assistance and training to tribal courts and BIA Courts of Indian Offenses (commonly known as “CFR Courts”) judges and staff throughout Indian country. It is intended to serve as a liaison between state and federal courts in the development of policies affecting the interaction of these sovereign jurisdictions. The Division also provides guidance to the other Divisions within the Office of Justice Support that interact with the tribal and CFR court systems.
