Research Project: Investigation into Vitamin D¿s Possible Role in the Seasonal Shedding of E. Coli O157:h7 in Feedlot Cattle

Objective:
Determine the influence of vitamin D supplementation on fecal prevalence and concentrations of E. coli O157:H7 in cattle.

Approach:
Cattle naturally-colonized with E. coli O157:H7 will be adjusted to a diet low in vitamin D and exposed to two levels of vitamin D supplementation. Fecal shedding of E. coli O157:H7 will be monitored throughout the experimental period.
