Research Project: Identification of Qtls Associated with Sheath Blight Resistance Genes in Rice

Objective:
Identify molecular markers linked tightly enough with genes conferring resistance to rice sheath blight disease that they can be used as molecular gene tags in a breeding selection scheme.

Approach:
Molecular markers, sheath blight ratings, and marker-trait associations will be evaluated in two rice populations. Field-plot evaluations will be conducted in the joint TAES/USDA sheath blight field nursery.
