Use of remote camera systems to investigate efficiency of DNA-based sampling methods

The following photographs were taken in 2001 along trails in Glacier National Park as part of a trail monitoring effort. Cameras
were checked daily during a one-month period in late autumn.

grizzly bear walking down a trail Grizzly bear (Ursus arctos) traveling the trail at night in late October. Tracks and scat, presumably from this bear, were observed one mile in either direction of the camera set. The bear also dug a small pit in the trail adjacent to the camera set.
